Overview
Prime Inc. is one of the largest privately held trucking companies in North America, headquartered in Springfield, Missouri. Founded in 1970, the company operates across all 48 contiguous U.S. states and Canada, serving a broad range of shippers with temperature-sensitive, flatbed, liquid bulk, and general freight needs.
Prime operates distinct divisions for refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, intermodal, and hopper freight. Its refrigerated fleet includes over 11,700 temperature-controlled trailers used for fresh produce, frozen foods, pharmaceuticals, floral, and other perishable goods. The flatbed division handles construction materials, heavy equipment, and other oversized or non-standard cargo. The tanker division transports liquid bulk products such as cooking oils, fats, chocolates, and pet food ingredients using trailers ranging from 6,800 to 7,250 gallons, including kosher-certified units. Prime also offers intermodal services for both refrigerated and flatbed freight — a relatively uncommon combination in the market — as well as freight brokerage and logistics services for owner-operators and fleet owners.
Shippers commonly use Prime for long-haul truckload freight across modes, particularly temperature-controlled and flatbed shipments that require reliable nationwide capacity.
