PDI

Perishable Distributors of Iowa (PDI) is a food distribution company headquartered in Ankeny, Iowa, established in 1982. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hy-Vee, Inc. and is one of the largest perishable food distributors in the Midwest. PDI operates a 425,000-square-foot warehouse facility and services more than 450 retail and wholesale customers weekly, with its fleet traveling over 240,000 miles per week across an eight-state Midwest region.

PDI's transportation services include both FTL and LTL freight, with a specialty in refrigerated LTL. The fleet consists of approximately 160 power units and 346 air-ride refrigerated trailers equipped with multi-temperature capabilities, allowing fresh, frozen, and dry products to be hauled on a single trailer. PDI delivers daily throughout Iowa and seven surrounding Midwest states, with second-day delivery available to most other areas. The company also offers contract freight, brokerage and freight forwarding services to the lower 48 states, final mile delivery, and temperature-controlled warehousing.
