Overview
FedEx is a global transportation and logistics company headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. Through its various operating divisions, FedEx serves businesses of all sizes worldwide, from small e-commerce sellers to large multinational enterprises shipping freight across continents.
On the freight side, FedEx offers LTL shipping through FedEx Freight, with two primary domestic service tiers — a priority option with the fastest published transit times of any nationwide LTL carrier, and an economy option for less time-sensitive moves. LTL coverage spans all 50 U.S. states, Canada, and Mexico. For heavier or time-sensitive shipments, FedEx provides domestic air freight with one-, two-, and three-business-day delivery options. International air freight services reach more than 220 countries and territories, with priority and economy tiers delivering to most major markets in one to five business days. FedEx also offers final-mile freight delivery for large items to businesses and residences, as well as specialty services for temperature-controlled, high-security, and hazardous materials shipments through FedEx Custom Critical. Note: FedEx Freight is scheduled to spin off as an independent company effective June 2026.
Shippers commonly use FedEx freight services for domestic LTL shipments requiring fast, reliable transit, time-definite air freight for urgent heavy shipments, and international freight forwarding. FedEx is also a common choice for retail and e-commerce businesses that need coordinated parcel and freight shipping under one network.
