Sanzo Automates Freight from Cin7 with Owlery
Challenges
As Sanzo scaled into national retail, operations ran on Excel. Manually translating PDF- and EDI-sourced POs into internal spreadsheets across multiple team members meant wrong quantities, SKUs, and destinations β with downstream costs and customer issues. PO management alone took two or three people entering the same data into different systems, and freight was scattered across four to six separate broker portals plus each warehouse's individual WMS.
β
The team went looking for something specific: "a platform that was AI driven and has the ability to essentially streamline, if not automate, that whole entire process of fulfilling a PO β including handling the freight out to ship those POs as well."
Solution
Sanzo adopted Cin7 as its inventory backbone and connected Owlery to automate everything downstream. Owlery reads orders directly from Cin7, finds the best carrier rates, releases orders to warehouses, and controls freight costs across the full supply chain.
β
The integration was nearly instant: "It felt like connecting Owlery and Cin7 was just turning it on and it was live. It was pretty seamless and smooth."
β
- One platform for all logistics β "Rather than go into each individual warehouse's WMS to get an order sent out, we are now truly operating within one platform of Owlery to handle all your logistics."
- Centralized freight quoting β "We have four to five, sometimes six different portals for all our freight brokers. And now it's all just centralized."
- Smarter rate decisions β "Owlery is allowing us to compare dozens of rates at once to find what's the most cost-effective, but still reliable, freight option." Historical trends by lane show whether a new quote is above or below what Sanzo has historically spent.
- Automatic proof of delivery β "Owlery and the ability to see PODs upon delivery provide a lot of the seamless data that we would otherwise need to request manually."
β
Results
- PO fulfillment time cut from 48 hours on average to just a couple of minutes
- Human-error mistakes at essentially zero following implementation
- 4β6 freight broker portals consolidated into one β no more logging into individual warehouse WMSs
- Dozens of carrier rates compared at once, with historical lane benchmarks to evaluate every new quote
- PODs captured automatically on delivery, strengthening customer-dispute resolution
- Lower freight costs on every lane, with the data to prove it
